What are LSU alumni Coast To Coast crawfish boils?

LSU Alumni Association is the non-profit alumni organization for Louisiana State University. It represents over 200,000 alumni across the globe serving as their connection back to their alma mater. What exactly do we do? The association supports numerous scholarships, professorships, and faculty awards. The association also provides events and programs that support alumni, future alumni (students), and the university and its faculty. One of the biggest initiatives to happen each year, of course, are the LSU Alumni Association chapter-hosted Coast-To-Coast Crawfish Boils.

Coast to Coast Crawfish Boils check all the boxes related to the quintessential fundraising event. The boils span the US and take place from April through June in about 50 of our 130 alumni chapter cities. You can find everything from live music, other Louisiana culinary favorites, LSU merchandise, silent and live auctions with LSU-themed items and experiential opportunities along with 100's if not 1000's of like minded loyal Tigers.

Did we say too much? Just watch this and you'll get the idea...

What's the purpose of coast to coast crawfish boilS?

The fun answer to this question is that it is the perfect excuse for LSU Alumni and their friends to have a good time by getting a taste of the spicy Louisiana culture they left behind when graduating from LSU.  "Party with a purpose" is the phrase used by the LSU Alumni Association to describe the vibe for the crawfish boils hosted by alumni chapters across the country.

While attendees of the event are engrossed with "sucking heads and pinching tails," the event has a greater purpose. The money raised through the event ticket sales and auction proceeds are dedicated to help fund scholarships for local students attending LSU. For example, for the past twenty-nine years, the San Diego LSU Alumni Chapter has grown their annual event to 4,500 attendees per year. Funds raised by the chapter are used for a scholarship dedicated to a local San Diego student planning to attend LSU.
