CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP
The LSU Alumni Dallas Chapter Scholarships are endowed scholarships generously funded by our alumni, donors, friends, and proceeds raised from our numerous chapter events. Their support of future Tigers and the University makes our mission possible.
These scholarships are awarded by the LSU Office of Admissions. Your application to the University automatically considers you for the LSU Alumni Dallas Chapter Scholarships.
Dallas Chapter Scholarship Spotlights:
Audrey Torres

Audrey Torres, Flagship Scholarship recipient, is from Colleyville, Texas, and graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School, where she served as Student Body Vice President and was a member and officer of the Panteras Varsity Dance Team. She was also involved in Leadership, National Honor Society, National Dance Honor Society, National Charity League, Student Council, and was recognized as a National Hispanic Recognition Award recipient.
One of her most meaningful service experiences was planning and volunteering for the Community Color Run, raising awareness for the prevention of sex trafficking.
After visiting LSU’s campus, Audrey knew it was the right place for her and is excited for the opportunities, diversity, and community it offers.
Jacob Nguyen
Jacob Nguyen, Flagship Scholarship recipient, is from Southlake, Texas and graduated from Southlake Carroll High School, where he was an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a Bands of America Grand Nationals Finalist. He also was part of a music production with Disney Producers in Orlando FL in 2024. He enjoys playing the trumpet, going to the gym, and playing basketball with friends.
He is majoring in Biochemistry/Pre-Med, and involved with the LSU Food Pantry, The Red Cross Club, Alpha Epsilon Delta and the Vietnamese Student Association at LSU.
Choosing LSU follows his father’s path of attending LSU for undergrad and medical school to become a physician. Jacob intends to fully utilise LSU’s amazing resources to help him accomplish the same feats of his father and make him proud.
Cathryn Alexander
Cathryn Alexander, Flagship Scholarship recipient, is from Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Benbrook High School, where she was an Officer in the choir program, winning many competitions including top scores in sold and ensemble competition, and being chosen for Honor Choir. She was also part of the Whiz Quiz team which placed 2nd in District Finals.
She is a Pre-Nursing major and a regular attendee at the LSU BCM events.
Cathryn chose to attend LSU because of the incredible academics and opportunities, as well as a lengthy family history with the university.
Lucy McDowell

Lucy McDowell, Flagship Scholar recipient, is from Frisco, Texas and graduated from Wakeland High School, where she served as student body treasurer, diving team captain, Girls in STEM vice president, and qualified for DECA state finals.
She is pursuing a major in biological sciences and a minor in animal sciences with plans of becoming a veterinarian. Currently, she is involved in undergraduate research at the Laboratory for Equine and Comparative Orthopedic Research and is a member of LSU’s pre-veterinary club, Student Christian Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, Geaux Green, and Salt student ministry.
LSU’s inspiring culture and groundbreaking research, which will help her flourish as a person and future veterinarian, is why Lucy chose LSU.
