The LSU Alumni Association takes your privacy very seriously. We understand that protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is of the utmost importance. Our commitment to protect your personal information will continue under the principles and guidelines described below.  

This Online Privacy Notice (this “Notice”) describes how information is collected by and through any of our online interfaces to which a copy of this Notice is posted, including, without limitation, websites such as www.lsualumni.org, LSUTigernation.com, and geaux.lsualumni.org; applications we have placed on third-party sites; social media presences; digital advertising campaigns; and mobile applications we make publicly available (each, a “Site,” and, collectively, the “Sites”), and how that information may be used and shared. 

For purposes of this Notice, the terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the LSU Alumni Association. The terms “you,” “your,” and “yours” refer to any natural person who accesses or uses a Site for personal, family, or household purposes. By using or accessing any Site, you confirm your agreement to the terms and conditions of this Notice as may be in effect at that time and consent to the processing of your personal information as set forth in this Notice. 

Information We Collect 

When you visit our Sites, we may collect the following information:

  • Settings from your mobile device, such as unique device identifiers, location, diagnostics and performance, including geolocation and other location information transmitted by your device, if you have enabled location services on such device; 
  • Website analytics information, such as pages visited and average time spent on a particular page; 
  • Search engine traffic referral information; and 
  • Responses to advertisements and promotions. 

We may also collect this information in other circumstances, including: 

  • Directly from you when you provide it to us; 
  • From the U.S. Postal Service when we receive notices of address changes; 
  • From affiliated entities such as LSU or LSU Foundation; and 
  • From third parties, such as our members, affinity and business partners, and other third parties that provide us or you with certain services. 

How We Use Information We Collect 

We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including: 

  • To provide and maintain our services; 
  • To inform you about important information regarding a Site, products or services, changes to terms, conditions, and policies or other administrative information; 
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Sites when you choose to do so; 
  • To respond to your inquiries and fulfill your requests; 
  • For business purposes, including data analysis, audits, developing and improving products and services, enhancing a Site, identifying usage trends and determining the effectiveness of promotional campaigns;

Sensitive Personal Information 

Sensitive personal information reveals your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, data concerning health or data concerning sexual orientation. 

We do not intentionally collect any sensitive personal information from you via the Sites. The Sites’ intention is to not process such information. 

How Information is Shared  

We may share your information as permitted or required by law or regulation. For example, we may share your information with:

  • Organizations with which we partner to offer products and services, such as joint marketing partners;

We, our service providers and other organizations we work with may deploy and use various tracking technologies to collect information, including: 

Cookies 

Cookies are small text files that can be placed on your system when you visit a website. Cookies allow us to collect information such as browser type, time spent on a website, pages visited, language preferences, and information about your relationships with us. Cookies allow us to facilitate image changes; display information more effectively; collect website traffic; and personalize and customize your online experience and our services to your needs. Our Sites do not require users to accept cookies, and you can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the opportunity to decide whether or not to accept it. If you choose not to accept cookies, you may experience some reduction in graphics and other personalized services. You also may need to accept cookies in order to maintain certain online advertising opt-out elections. 

Pixel Tags and Similar Technologies 

Pixel tags (also known as web beacons and clear GIFs) may be used in connection with some Site pages and HTML-formatted email messages in order to, among other functions, track the actions of users and email recipients, measure the success of our marketing campaigns and compile statistics about Site usage and response rates.  

Scripts may also collect and track information to improve and analyze our services. You also may be able disable scripting in your browser. Please check the security settings in your browser to determine the status of scripting settings. 

Location Tracking on Mobile Devices 

Certain applications on mobile devices may transmit information to us about your location. We may use that information to improve the products and services we provide to you as well as improving our services generally in your area. 

Information collected through tracking technologies is used for many purposes including, for example, to: 

  • Provide useful features to simplify your experience when you use or return to our services; 
  • Deliver relevant content based on your preferences, usage patterns and location; 
  • Monitor and evaluate the use and operation of our services; and 
  • Analyze traffic regarding our services and on websites or mobile applications of third parties. 

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Information  

We process your personal information based on your consent, as outlined above. The provision of your personal information to us is optional. However, if you do not provide all or part of your personal information, we may be unable to carry out the purposes for processing. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Notice. We will retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies, after which it will be deleted.  

Security of Data 

We protect the confidentiality and security of information we obtain in the course of our business by applying administrative, technical and physical security measures. Access to such information is limited, and policies and procedures are in place that are designed to safeguard such information from loss, misuse and improper disclosure. 

“Do Not Track” Signals  

Some browsers may provide a “do not track” or similar setting. Our Sites do not respond to such settings. If you enable such a setting, it will not prevent the collection of information about your online activities over time and across third third-party websites when you visit our Sites. 

Payment Processors 

We may provide paid products or services within our services. In such cases, we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g., payment processors). 

We do not collect or store your payment card details. That information is provided directly by you to such third-party payment processors, whose use of your personal information is governed by their own internet or online privacy notice. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS, as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council. PCI-DSS requirements are intended to help ensure the secure handling of payment card information.

The information and disclosures contained in this Notice apply only to our Sites. Our Sites may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s website. We do not guarantee, and are not responsible for, the privacy or security of these third-party websites, including the accuracy, completeness or reliability of their information. Consumer Rights

Children’s Privacy 

Our Sites are not intended for anyone under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen (18). If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

We may update this Notice from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Notice on this page.
