The People Behind The Smoke - Mike and Jamie Andrepont
Exceptional events, a strong team, and service to the community are the main objectives of Mike and Jamie Andrepont, owners of AFX Pro, and LSU Alumni Business Network Gold members.

The pair and their exceptional team deliver unforgettable special effects for clients across the Gulf South and beyond. They offer confetti, fog, cryogenics, lasers, lighting, snow, bubbles, and more—everything you could need to transform any ordinary event into an incredible display.
The team has provided a variety of special-effects scenes for every event you can imagine. Based in New Orleans, AFX Pro can curate everything from small ceremonies to Super Bowls. Merging wisdom with world-class expertise, they have led the live special effects industry, creating experiences that exceed expectations and deliver unforgettable memories that linger long after the event concludes.
What Mike Learned From LSU
Mike graduated from LSU in 2003 with a degree in Information Systems, which helped him build a strong foundation in organization and mental toughness to tackle complex challenges. He is especially thankful that LSU also emphasized the importance of relationship building and effective communication. It also gave him the confidence to adapt quickly, think in real time, and lead teams in high-pressure environments.
“Communication is a critical skill in our industry as we work alongside production teams to deliver high-impact experiences. Communication keeps everyone safe, and results in incredible special effects displays that fit our clients’ visions.”
The Importance of Giving Back
As a small business, AFX Pro is also passionate about supporting its local community. From volunteering at local food pantries and high schools to providing event special effects for non-profit organizations, the team is proud to support their neighbors in any way they can. Jamie also serves at the Chair of the Small Business Council for the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, which helps small businesses thrive with educational programming and networking that the group provides.

They were recently presented with the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce “Go Give” Award. This award is presented to a business that actively encourages and supports employee involvement in the community—whether through volunteer service, donated expertise, or meaningful contributions to local causes.
“Community Involvement has always been, and will always be, at the heart of our business. We not only encourage and facilitate our team in volunteering efforts, but we also enjoy offering our talents and special effects expertise to local nonprofits for events.”
Their Advice to Current LSU Students
When Mike thinks back on his time as a student and his life as a business owner and wants students today to remember to say yes to opportunities, even if you don’t feel fully ready. Focus on relationships. How you treat people matters more than anything, and those connections often lead to your biggest opportunities. Start before you feel ready and adjust as you go.
That mindset has been key in growing AFX Pro. Find something you enjoy and figure out how to create value around it. And most importantly, enjoy the process.
