Alumni Spotlight: Mark Kent Anderson

Mark Kent Anderson is a third-generation LSU graduate, who earned his bachelor's degree from LSU in 2014 before moving back home to Monroe, LA. He currently serves as executive vice president of sales & marketing at Mid South Extrusion and is committed to contributing to the growth of his local community.


Mark Kent Anderson is the executive vice president of sales & marketing at Mid South Extrusion, a family (and LSU Alumni) owned leading manufacturer of innovative flexible films and bags used in industrial manufacturing, consumer products, and food packaging applications.  

Anderson is a Monroe native, a 2009 graduate of Neville High School, and a third-generation LSU graduate, earning his bachelor's degree from LSU in 2014. He and his wife, Mariah, currently reside in Monroe, where he joined the family business. 

MK AndersonHe has been an active member of the LSU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors since 2019, most recently serving as chair elect. During his first year on the board, Anderson was critical in creating and advocating for the LSU Alumni Young Alumni Advisory Council. The council's role is to help improve current engagement with young alumni and guide future alumni initiatives. Anderson will serve as board chair in 2025, making him the youngest chair in the LSU Alumni's board history.  

He is also committed to his local community, holding positions on the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Northeast Louisiana as well as the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry’s (LABI) Board of Directors, the Flexible Packaging Association's Emerging Leaders Council, and the Plastics Industry Association's Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) group.  

In a recent interview with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Anderson explained he returned to Monroe after graduating because he saw the area's potential opportunity. Like other young professionals returning to the area, he wanted to contribute to the growth of his local community. MK2

And he did just that. Mid South Extrusion recently announced a $17 million investment at its facility in Ouachita Parish, expecting to create 21 direct new jobs while retaining 189 current positions in the state.  

“This investment boosts our production capacity, allowing us to target new markets and capitalize on our momentum in the flexible packaging industry,” Anderson said. “Our deep appreciation for our state and community, coupled with the unwavering support from local and state officials, makes reinvestment and expansion in Monroe an obvious choice. Mid South Extrusion eagerly anticipates continued growth in Monroe for many years.”
