An Unexpected Career Path
While Gage Heiserman did not initially envision climbing onto roofs as part of his daily job routine, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Heiserman (2024 BACH BUS) works for Lifetime Roofing as a project manager, marketing manager, and salesman.
“This job has given me the responsibility and the opportunity to help those in our community who have had their homes—and very often their entire livelihoods—affected by the hectic weather we experience here in Louisiana,” he said.

Finding LSU: A Decision That Felt Right
Originally from the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) area in northern Virginia, Heiserman grew up with a love for football. By high school, he knew he wanted to attend a university with a strong football culture.
It took just one weekend trip to Baton Rouge for him to realize LSU was the place.
“The kindness of the people, the incredible food, and the beauty of the campus made the decision easy,” Heiserman said. “On top of that, LSU is one of the most recognizable universities in the country, and I was proud to become a part of that tradition.”
During his time at LSU, Heiserman was involved with LSU Football recruitment as a student creative. One of his most memorable experiences came during the 2022 overtime win against Alabama—on the sideline.
“Jayden Daniels connected with Mason Taylor on a game-winning two-point conversion,” he said. “Being that close to such a defining moment in Tiger Stadium was unforgettable and perfectly captured the energy, passion, and pride that make LSU so special.”
Academic Impact: Learning Beyond the Classroom
Alongside his extracurricular involvement, Heiserman had meaningful academic experiences—especially with Energy Economics professor Timothy Rakitan.
He recalls his professor’s enthusiasm and accessibility, creating an environment where no question felt insignificant.
“I have never had a professor teach in such a practical and engaging way where the concepts we learned could be applied directly to real-world situations,” Heiserman said. “Because of his teaching style, I now find myself viewing everyday events through the lens of an economist.”

LSU played a major role in helping Heiserman step out of his comfort zone, build confidence, and connect with a variety of people. Having been homeschooled through grade school, the social environment at LSU was extremely impactful to him.
“There are so many opportunities and experiences available to students, from the excitement of football game days in the fall to grabbing a tray of crawfish during baseball season in the spring.”
Life After LSU: The Power of Prioritization
With so many responsibilities, Heiserman learned early on how to stay organized and prioritize effectively—skills he now applies in his career.
If he could sum up his LSU experience in one word, it would be prioritization.
“Balancing academics, friendships, and professional development requires discipline and focus. That balance is something I still rely on today in my professional career,” he said. “As a salesperson, you are never truly off the clock, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively is essential.”
