When she first toured LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication, she initially considered a career in criminology. But after learning more about the opportunities within digital advertising, everything clicked. “I had this amazing feeling come over me… like this is what I wanted to do,” Huggins said.
That moment set her on a path toward becoming a creative professional focused on branding, storytelling, and social media strategy.
When it came time to choose a college, she considered both LSU and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Ultimately, LSU stood out—not just for its academic programs, but for the experience it offered. “I wanted that same experience… to get out of my bubble and do something that excited me,” she said.
She enrolled at LSU in Fall 2020 and graduated early in 2023, making the most of her time on campus despite beginning her college journey during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During her senior year, Huggins became content lead for LSU’s student magazine, The Mag, where she played a key role in its transformation and growth.
Her work included:
Working alongside faculty mentors and fellow students, Huggins helped elevate the publication’s identity and reach. “It started with a small team, and we really made the magazine our own,” she said. She also conducted interviews with student-athletes, including LSU baseball player Josh Pearson, gaining real-world media and storytelling experience.
In addition to her major, Huggins pursued a minor in entrepreneurship—an experience that further expanded her skill set. As part of the program, she pitched a business idea as part of the J. Terrell Brown VENTURE Challenge and won $5,000 in funding, showcasing her creativity and strategic thinking.
She was also an active member of Delta Zeta sorority, building leadership skills and connections that continue to support her career today.
Her role includes: Building brand identities across digital platforms, creating content strategies tailored to target audiences, and helping businesses grow through social media marketing.
She credits LSU’s coursework and hands-on experiences for preparing her for the fast-paced world of digital marketing.
“It was an amazing experience seeing how to build a brand and create something you’re really proud of,” she said. “I still have those magazines today.”
Kamryn Huggins represents the next generation of LSU alumni—creative, driven, and making an impact in their communities through innovation and storytelling.
