Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be spotlighting our many LSU Alumni Affinity Chapters! These special chapters are not geographically based as many of our chapters are, and instead focus on joining together individuals who are alike in some way. Whether that be through their academic program, involvement in an organization as a student, or personal attributes, these incredible chapters are run a little bit differently but are among some of our most successful and active chapters. The LSU Flores MBA Alumni Chapter exists to mentor the LSU Flores MBA Program’s students, fund strategically imperative curricula, and connect alumni to the college and the students. Our relevancy is determined by the achievement of key metrics through giving our time, talent, and treasure necessary to add value to the program and our membership.
The LSU Alumni School of Renewable Natural Resources Chapter serves to connect fellow alumni and faculty members through their shared passion for natural resource education, research, and LSU.
The chapter hosts an annual meeting and social events throughout the year. Some of their past events include hosting a crawfish boil, attending baseball and football games, touring the LSU Center for River Studies, gathering for happy hour, and more. Through dues and donations, members raise funds for the School of Renewable Natural Resources Excellence Fund which contributes to student lab equipment, conferences, extended field trips, and supplies.
“When I was in RNR, I did my masters and undergrad, I had such a close-knit group of friends and that was a highlight of my time. Years after graduation, when the opportunity to engage with the alumni association arose, I was interested because of that. I wanted to get to know people from before and after my time. Connection with alumni is why I agreed to get involved and why I stay involved.” Rachel Villani, Chapter President
