Purpose
To recognize and honor LSU Alumni who have made significant contributions to society and whose achievements have brought credit and distinction to Louisiana State University.
In addition to honoring these persons, the awards will spotlight the role of LSU in their lives and thus will present tangible evidence of the effectiveness of the University’s program.
It shall be recognized that these awards are given for outstanding individual achievement and that no compromises which would diminish the significance of the awards will be made.
Criteria for Selection
The recipient shall:
- Have attained prominence through his efforts in commerce, industry, technology, the professions, agriculture, engineering, the arts, the sciences, education, government, or other worthy endeavor.
- Be a person of such integrity, stature, and demonstrated ability that the faculty, staff, students, and alumni will take pride in and be inspired by his recognition.
- Be a person eminently successful, with a record of accomplishment which will be impressive to the public.
- By his deeds and actions, reflect and recognize the importance of his educational training here, reflect pride in his alma mater, and be loyal to and interested in Louisiana State University.
- Have demonstrated interest in, and financial support of, Louisiana State University and the LSU Alumni Association/Foundation and their programs.
Eligibility
A person who has completed at least one semester in a regular course study in the LSU system.
A person may be the recipient of the Hall of Distinction Alumni Award only once.
Full time employees of Louisiana State University, or those serving in a governing position or any supervisory or advisory board, and nationally elected officiers of the LSU Alumni Association are not eligible for the Hall of Distinction Alumni Award during the term of their employment or service.
